WIP:

- 0.159: hap added GAME_REQUIRES_ARTWORK flag to Golly! Ghost!.

- 0.137u4: Howard Casto hooked up gun recoils for Golly! Ghost!. Also noted that the outputs for the remaining gun games are also in that area. Someone who can find the offsets should be able to hook them up.

- 0.137u2: David Haywood hooked up default NVRAM for Golly! Ghost!.

- 9th July 2008: Mr. Do - Got rid of the internal LED part of the LAY file for Golly Ghost (since the internal LEDs don't work for that game), and one of the files (which was meant to be the background not lit up). Fixed the lay file so that the dark background effect could still be accomplished.

- 10th September 2006: Mr. Do - Updated the .lay file for Golly Ghost due to the change in the LED system.

- 20th August 2006: Mr. Do - Converted Golly Ghost artwork to use the new built-in LEDs in 0.107u4.

- 0.106u10: Aaron Giles updated Golly! Ghost! to support the new artwork system.

- 0.63: Phil Stroffolino added 'Golly! Ghost!' (Namco 1990).

- 7th December 2002: Phil Stroffolino sent in an updated Namco System 2 driver that makes Golly Ghost fully playable, also thanks to Guru and Smitdogg.

- 26th November 2002: Phil Stroffolino sent in an updated Namco System 2 driver with improvements to Final Lap 2 and to Golly Ghost, which is now playable but still has some problems with the artwork emulation.

- 0.62: Added (Testdriver) Golly Ghost.

- 20th August 2001: Guru - Phil Stroffolino made some progress with Golly Ghost (MCU protection causing problems).

- 18th August 2001: Guru - Dumped Golly Ghost (Namco 1990, System 2). Thanks to Pelle for sending me the PCB. NOTE: This game uses a diorama (backdrop), which is controlled by a driver board to open/close mechanical doors etc. which are connected to solenoids, much like movable items on the playfield of a pinball table. The diorama has lights (24v globes) that come on _only_ during gameplay to light up the rooms. All lights are on when playing the game during the shooting scenes and off for the display cut screens, title, high scrores etc. The globes are not individually controlled, they are either all on or off. The lights also come on during the shooting scenes in attract mode. The driver board powers the diorama unit's solenoids and globes via some connectors on the driver board. The guns also plug into the driver board via another small connector. Without the backdrop, the game is virtually unplayable.

- TRIVIA -

Even if titlescreen says 1990, Golly! Ghost! was released in June 1991 in Japan.

The game featured a genuine doll's house hooked up to a pinball-style motor board. The motors allowed certain parts of the doll's house to move under CPU control (to allow the ghosts to come out of the toilet etc.). To project the ghosts, a monitor was placed in the base of the cabinet, projecting an inverted image onto a pane of glass. This system proved to be such a good way of removing interference when operating genuine lightguns (the ones in Golly! Ghost! were actually joysticks) that this reflection system has been used in upright lightgun games from Namco ever since (including "Point Blank"). One interesting point, since the ghosts are not in this dimension and can pass through walls why do they need to open doors to get in.

Shane Van Gorden holds the official record for this game with 327 points.

Victor Entertainment released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Namco Video Game Graffiti Vol. 9 - VICL-8089) on 22/09/1993.
