Bugs:
- prehisle, gensitou, prehislek, prehisleu: Wrong speed. abelardator2 (ID 05939)
- prehislek: Introductory Text (Korean?) not displayed properly. Tafoid (ID 05613)
WIP:
- 0.166: Mamesick fixed wrong speed in Prehistoric Isle and clones (see MT#05939). Changed VSync to 59.185606 Hz. Note: This is a guesswork but in any case it's better than use a standard refresh rate of 60.00 Hz. Values are taken from SNK68 driver which contains games with very similar (if not identical) hardware to prehisle. Notice that the new refresh rate is identical to NeoGeo and this should not be a surprise since we're talking about SNK manufacturer.
- 0.157: PORT_VBLANK seems more likely active low in Prehistoric Isle. This fixed wrong vblank IP_ACTIVE_HIGH value [Alex Jackson].
- 0.156: Make Prehistoric Isle use proper priority rather than two-pass sprite rendering, clean up a little [Vas Crabb]. Internal tilemap documentation update and Prehistoric Isle pdrawgfx conversion (priority-masked drawing). Fixed issues introduced by pdrawgfx conversion; use required_region_ptr instead of runtime tag lookup; give gfx regions more meaningful names; remove superfluous "prehisle"'s and "16"'s from member names (it's been many years since you could accidentally plug a handler of the wrong width into an address map and not have the core catch you at compile time) [Alex Jackson].
- 0.154: Mark gfx1 rom bad in clone (Korea) - missing korean text [hap].
- 31st October 2011: Mr. Do - We have Prehistoric Isle from the BYOAC / CAG artwork. Cleaned by Mikonos from Zona Arcade.
- 0.141u2: Artemio Urbina added clone 'Prehistoric Isle in 1930 (Korea)'.
- 0.141u1: Brian Troha added DIP locations to Prehistoric Isle in 1930.
- 0.138u2: David Haywood fixed lack of graphics in Prehistoric Isle and clones.
- 0.133u1: Renamed (prehislu) to (prehisleu).
- 0.129u5: Phil Bennett fixed missing FX sound in Prehistoric Isle.
- 0.129u4: Fixed rom names.
- 0.124u4: David Haywood removed silly idle skip code in Prehistoric Isle driver.
- 0.123u5: Changed 68000 CPU1 clock speed to 9MHz.
- 0.123u4: Corrado Tomaselli changed/verified clocks in Prehistoric Isle.
- 0.108u4: Vas Crabb fixed gfx priority and added save state support for Prehistoric Isle video hardware.
- 0.89u3: Pierpaolo Prazzoli added coin counters to Prehistoric Isle.
- 0.78: Misc fixes/tilemap conversions [Curt Coder]. Fixed dipswitches and removed 3rd coin slot.
- 0.56: Added 'Level Select' dipswitch.
- 21st September 2001: Bryan McPhail fixed the dipswitch settings in Prehistoric Isle.
- 25th February 2001: Bryan McPhail fixed Prehistoric Isle graphics.
- 29th April 1999: Nicola fixed Prehistoric Isle's controls jamming later in the game.
- 28th April 1999: Bryan McPhail sent in an updated Prehistoric Isle driver, and now its background graphics work just well in the later levels.
- 0.35b11: Bryan McPhail and Carlos A. Lozano added 'Prehistoric Isle in 1930 (World)' (SNK 1989) and clones (US) and Genshi-Tou 1930's. Known issues: Input ports are not checked.
- 10th April 1999: Nicola fixed some things in the Prehistoric Isle driver.
- 9th April 1999: Bryan McPhail figured out the Prehistoric Isle background with the help of Carlos, and the driver is near completion.
- 8th April 1999: Bryan McPhail has sent in a preliminary driver for Prehistoric Isle, but background graphics are missing.

Prehistoric Isle in 1930 (c) 1989 SNK.
Prehistoric Isle in 1930 is a horizontally scrolling shooting game developed by SNK and released in arcades in 1989.
Ships have been mysteriously disappearing in the vicinity of the Bahamas for years. Now, in 1930, the United States government sends an expedition to the area in a flying boat to determine the cause. As they survey the ocean, the expedition comes across an uncharted landmass which they dub "Greenhell Isle" and launches two reconnaissance biplanes to take a closer look. As they investigate the island, the biplanes come under attack by dinosaurs and other life forms that were thought to have become extinct millions of years ago.
The player takes control of a biplane armed with a forward-firing machine gun. It can also be equipped with an option weapon pod that can be rotated clockwise around the craft. The option's attack changes depending on where it is currently positioned:
* When directly above or below the plane, the option fires energy waves that reflect back upon contact with a surface.
* When diagonally above the plane, the option fires balls of energy that bounce off surfaces at a 45 degree angle.
* When diagonally below the plane, the option drops bombs.
* When directly in front of the plane, the option replaces the default machine gun with its own flame cannon.
* When directly behind the plane, the option deploys aerial mines.
