Bugs:

- Tilt key is not mapped. Still unresolved. Misc (ID 00338)

WIP:

- 0.182: Added dipswitch locations. Filled in missing 'Difficulty' switches for Schmeiser Robo [Brian Troha].

- 0.178: Schmeiser Robo has layer bug with flipscreen. Marked the game as MACHINE_NO_COCKTAIL [Angelo Salese]. Added 'Debug Mode' dipswitch.

- 0.144u7: Converted Schmeiser Robo to use generic DECO sprite functions [David Haywood].

- 0.122u7: Brian Troha fixed 'Demo Sounds' dip is reversed. Added 'Freeze Screen' dipswitch.

- 0.122u2: Changed HuC6280 CPU2 clock speed to 2685000 Hz.

- 0.96u1: Brian Troha fixed dipswitches in Schmeiser Robo. Added dipswitches 'Service Mode' and 'Demo Sounds'.

- 0.96: Bryan McPhail fixed Schmeiser Robo - Game now playable. Changed HuC6280 CPU2 clock speed to 8055000 Hz. Changed description to 'Schmeiser Robo (Japan)'.

- 0.93: Changed 2nd OKI6295 clock speed to 15255 Hz.

- 0.87: Bryan McPhail added 'Schmeiser Robo' (Hot B 1993). Protection issues - Not working 100%. The game puts graphics info through the protection chip so in this case the game looks wrong even though the gameplay is actually running correctly. Uses a strange double buffer feature of the protection chip that the Deco games don't (seem to) use.

- 24th November 2003: Bryan McPhail - Still not finished - Schmeizer Robo is protected, need to write a trojan to run on the board.

- 14th September 2003: Bryan McPhail - Schmeizer Robo is a Hot-B game running on Data East hardware.

- 20th July 2003: Guru - Received Schmeizer Robo (Hot-B 1993, Data East hardware). Big thanks to Leonid81, Bob Schultz, jmurjr, Smitdogg, f205v, Kevin Eshbach and many MAMEWorld contributors.

History

Arcade Video game published 26 years ago:

Schmeiser Robo (c) 1993 Hot-B.

Schmeiser Robo plays similarly to other 2-D versus fighting games during its release, which the player's character fights against his or her opponent in best two-out-of-three matches in a single player tournament mode with the computer or against another human player. However, unlike most other fighting games released at the same time, the game uses an 8-way joystick and 3 buttons: one for punching, another for kicking, and the last one first introduced in the game during the modern era of fighting games, the guard button. Every character can do moving and attacking in spite of repeatedly pressing the guard button; however, they can't block their opponents' attacks by using it. Other unique features introduced in this game are quick (or small) jumping, air-guarding, counter-attacking, guard-canceling and rush-attacking.
